Eye Tracking for Driver Simulation Purposes

Postby cmorin17 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 8:59 pm

Hi, I am new on the forum (sorry if I am posting in the wrong place but it seems to fit here).

I am currently doing research on implementing eye tracking for driver simulation purposes. The user will likely be moving their head quite extensively, for example to shoulder check, causing problems for the calibration of eye tracking. We are hoping to implement some sort of recalibration during the simulation. For example, we would like to potentially use something on the screen, such as a street sign, as a calibration point that would not distract the user (as they would be unaware it is even a calibration point). This calibration point would act as a way to verify whether or not the accuracy of tracking is still good and let the user know if recalibration is necessary at any time during the simulation.

I know that with GT 2.0 the user can recalibrate certain points while the calibration screen is still open, but is there anyway to recalibrate any given point at any time? I know we would have to write a program to integrate calibration points on the simulation, but I am not sure whether it is even a feasible option.

If you have any ideas about implementing recalibration during eye tracking it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance,
Chelsea
